2003
FBS began working working with FCPS & Barbara Martin to provide Blues in the schools area schools.
2001
On November 29th and 30th, FBS sponsored lecture/performances in area high schools by Fruteland Jackson. Fruteland Jackson has been recognized nationally for his Blues in the Schools program, and FBS was proud to bring him back again another year.
This year Mr. Jackson performed for students at Frederick, Thomas Johnson, Catoctin and Walkersville High schools. Mr. Jackson presented his "Blues History: Delta 101" program. This program teaches how the blues evolved from 'field hollers' and work songs into the music we know today as the blues. The program features the music and biographies from blues artists throughout time. They range from Robert Johnson and W.C. Handy to Eric Clapton and B.B. King.
2000
On October 12th and 13th, FBS once again sponsored lecture performances in area high schools by Frutleand Jackson. In 2001 he performed at Brunswick, Linganore, Middletown & Urbana High schools.
